We offer an exclusive 500 Clock Hour (additional requirements for qualification), 750 Clock Hour (Esthetics only), or a 1000 Clock Hour Teacher Training Program (Barber, Cosmetology) to gain your instructor license. All Teacher Training Courses consist of theoretical and practical instruction. The students demonstrate their knowledge of all subject matter in theory and application, through the completion of required written and practical applications. This curriculum and course of study are designed to instruct a student in basic teaching methods and Pivot Point’s Mindful Teaching™ while instructing with the latest in interactive education and technology. It is anticipated, for the effective implementation of this course, that the student is proficient in the art and practice of their licensed profession.
Following sound training principles, the course provides an opportunity for each student to observe and assist experienced teachers in the performance of their duties, to perform skill demonstrations, to have supervised practice teaching, and to thoroughly study the principles of teaching. The course permits the student to apply, in a classroom atmosphere, the practices and theories to which they are exposed in the course while under the supervision of a licensed educator.
Pivot Point’s Mindful Teaching™ sourcebook consists of theoretical and practical instruction. The cosmetology curriculum and courses of study are designed to instruct a teacher trainee in teaching methods that are efficient and effective in the classroom. Our Teacher Training (Cosmetology) course is your first step toward becoming a valued mentor in the lives of Cosmetology students. The Cosmetology instructors at our beauty school in Bloomingdale, Illinois help students learn and practice the latest hairdressing, nail care, skincare, and makeup techniques utilized in the industry by beauty professionals. Our cosmetology instructor class and the program will help you gain the necessary skills to earn a Cosmetology instructor license and prepare you for the IL state exam.
Additional Admissions Requirements
In addition to the general admissions requirements, the applicant must be a currently licensed cosmetologist or esthetician. Proof of active license is required. In the state of Illinois, cosmetology teachers may also teach esthetics and/or nail technology provided they have demonstrated skills in these areas.
To qualify for the 500 Clock Hour Teacher Training, you need to have at least two years of practical experience as a licensed cosmetologist or esthetician within 5 years preceding the examination.
Course Phase 1 (240 Hours)
During Phase 1 students will receive instruction on seven modules including Pivot Point’s Mindful Teaching™, Brain Basics, and Learning, Preparing to Teach, Classroom Management, Instructional Methods, Assessing Learner Progress, and The Art of Teaching. This phase will also review the state licensing requirements and business methods.
Course Phase 2 (260 Hours)
As students will progress to Phase 2 they will begin interning under the direction of a licensed instructor in the classroom and student salon and spa and shadowing a cosmetology teacher.
Course Phase 3 (500 Hours – only for the 1000 Clock Hour Course)
Phase 3 students will continue their postgraduate training on all areas of the teacher training course while interning under the direction of a licensed instructor in the classroom and student salon and spa while completing an intern development journal.

Our Teacher Training Esthetics will enable you to earn an Esthetics Instructor license and prepare you for the IL state exam. With confidence in core teaching knowledge, needed critical thinking, and successfully mastering the IL state exam, you are qualified to teach and empower the next generation of skincare professionals beyond entry-level proficiency and necessary skills to start their journey for a sustainable career.

In addition to the general admissions requirements in this handbook, the applicant must be a currently licensed esthetician or cosmetologist. Proof of active license is required.
In addition at least two years of practical experience as a licensed professional in the field of study within 5 years preceding the examination.
In the state of Illinois, esthetics teachers may also teach cosmetology and/or nail technology provided they have demonstrated skills in these areas.
Course Phase 1 (240 Hours)
During Phase 1 students will receive instruction on seven modules including Pivot Point’s Mindful Teaching™, Brain Basics, and Learning, Preparing to Teach, Classroom Management, Instructional Methods, Assessing Learner Progress, and The Art of Teaching. This phase will also review the state licensing requirements and business methods.
Course Phase 2 (260 Hours)
As students will progress to Phase 2 they will begin interning under the direction of a licensed instructor in the classroom and sand spa environment.
Course Phase 3 (250 Hours – only for the 750 Clock Hour Course)
In the final portion of this course, Phase 3 students will continue their postgraduate training on all areas of the teacher training course while interning under the direction of a licensed instructor in the classroom and spa environment while completing an intern development journal.
At the start of each program, Pivot Point Academy equips students with a Student Teacher Training Kit that includes high-quality tools you’ll need to begin your educator career. You also can add an iPad (optional) needed to access our interactive learning platform Learn About Beauty (LAB).
