Stephanie’s personal story of her journey to becoming a beauty professional

Meet Stephanie, a Pivot Point Academy Cosmetology Student who is sharing her personal experience at our Academy and her path to becoming a beauty professional. Her story clearly reflects that life and destiny are more like a journey. Like Stephanie, your journey will require effort along with passion and will help you to discover your purpose while experiencing a career in beauty. I always wondered what would have happened if I would have gone to Pivot Point

I first enrolled at Pivot Point Academy in 2014. I was supposed to start in July. In June of 2014, my life was thrown for a loop with a positive pregnancy test. I decided to get married and had the most beautiful little girl. Three years later we welcomed her baby sister. While I absolutely loved being a stay-at-home mom, I often found myself wondering what would have happened if I would have graduated from Pivot Point?

8 years, a marriage, 2 beautiful babies, and a pandemic later, I am in my final weeks at Pivot Point Academy! It was a question that lived in my mind all the time. I decided to follow my desire and start doing. In June of 2021, I started at Pivot Point Academy.

In phase 1 of the Cosmetology Program, we got hands-on in week one. I had moments of panic, asking myself questions like, can I actually do this, is this too hard, or will I ever get this? I had to really do some internal reflection. And I decided that I did not dream about this for years to give up as soon as it got tough. Consequently, I dove in headfirst. I read and reread the theory until I knew and understood it. I took mannequin heads home and practiced my marcel iron on my front porch because it just took me a while to get the hang of it.

My educators at Pivot Point never let me settle for something I wasn’t proud of. They constantly push me to reach my full potential and I am forever thankful. I will be graduating with a 96% GPA, which is something I never thought I would be capable of.

I will take the skills, knowledge, guidance, and confidence I’ve received at Pivot Point Academy with me forever. And now, that I am nearing graduation and going on job interviews, I am so thankful I don’t have to continue to wonder what would have happened if I would have gone to Pivot Point.
